I have worked in salons since I was 16 years old. From receptionist to assistant, colorist to owner; I believe every role in the salon is significant in creating a positive experience for the guest. I have taken my experience and paired it with my passion to build Blackbird into a space that feels comfortable, kind and elevated.
My speciality when it comes to hair is low maintenance. Feeling beautiful should not come with exhaustive schedules. Generally speaking, I love hair that enhances natural tones, textures and routines. I am best at lived in blondes and brunettes. I love rich, warm tones that have irresistible shine. I have also trained in perfecting placements that blend grey hair without coverage to get maximum wear without a harsh grow out. I value feeling on “trend” without swaying too far from what compliments a timeless glow.

CO-FOUNDER
Blackbird is a new chapter for me. I’ve always dreamed of owning my own business and creating a space where the people I love most are welcome and always feel beautiful. In all my years of coloring, I’ve also fallen in love with teaching the hair stylists of tomorrow and learning from my colleagues. Blackbird is so much more than a salon – it’s home.

Favorite products: Kevin Murphy Untangled Spray, Sheila Stotts hair brush, Oribe Dry Texture Spray, Le Labo Santal 33, and Creeper Red lipstick by ColourPop. I buy this by the multiples so I can have one in every purse. It's definitely my signature lip color.

I am from the Dominican Republic, family is everything, I love to travel, I am a foodie, and love being a cat mom!
I enjoy cutting all different hair lengths but love to cut curly hair!

Favorite products: Kevin Murphy has so many great products to have a favorite! Body Mass is definitely one of them. I've also been loving the Mizani curl line.

I’m Sidney, I’m originally from Northern Virginia but moved around a bit. Today I call Navy Yard home! On my day off you can find me at a local happy hour or coffee shop, or spending all my money in Georgetown.
I am a color specialist! Blondes are my favorite but any lived in color is my vibe.

Outside of Blackbird, you can find me cooking, skateboarding, going antiquing, grocery shopping, or doing embroidery with my 2 cats.

I specialize in cuts ranging anywhere from shags and pixies to bobs and soft lived in layers.

I live in Capitol Hill with my boyfriend and my sweet dog, only a 10 min walk from Blackbird. I am originally from Canada and every summer my family and I go to my favorite place in the world: our lakeside cottage on Pike Lake in Canada. I am an avid book lover and reader. Finding new hikes with my dog, or going to pilates/spin class is how I like to spend my days off.
I am a color specialist, and I love creating lived in color looks that work best for my clients lifestyle. My favorite thing is when my clients come back after months and are still in love with their hair! One of my strong suits is bright and dimensional blondes.

Favorite products: Olaplex No 3. for damage repair, Kevin Murphy's Body Mass made my hair feel so much thicker and it smells like cotton candy. Lastly, Amika Supernova Moisture Cream before I air dry or blow dry to leave my hair soft and shiny!

I’m a 4th generation Washington DC hairstylist. I started doing hair at a young age and knew then it was something I would love everyday if I chose to do it as a career. I feel incredibly fortunate to have landed a career that I’m passionate about. I believe you can never stop learning or honing your craft, which is why 16 years into being a stylist, I crave staying up to date with the latest techniques and trends. When I’m not behind the chair you can find me elbow deep in motherhood, raising a teenager and two toddlers alongside my long time partner and high school sweetheart. Life is colorful and messy and I strive to find the magic in the smallest corners of our lives.

I’m a Pacific Northwest native! Home is on an island between the coastlines of Washington state and Canada. I love to cook & travel when possible. I enjoy spending my days exploring the city with my dog or baking.

I specialize in balayage color and bridal. I also enjoy cutting texturizing long layers to create softer movement in the hair while maintaining length for my long hair girls.

I’m a Northern VA that started my career in 2018 as an apprentice/salon assistant. I’ve worked under several different stylists which has made me well rounded in my career. Outside of work I’ve started to become a little bit of a foodie and I love sweets.

I specialize in high impact blondes and dimensional brunettes. I am a colorist and hair cutter.
